Maybe it was rumor. They certainly LOOKED like “Kids in Satan’s Service”. Maybe that’s why I never questioned it. I’ve learned so much, and I’m sure there is yet so much to learn.

No. He and Shannon were shacked up together and their children were born out of wedlock. He didn’t marry Shannon until she practically forced him to in 2011. It was probably to gain viewers for their tv show since that was an ever occurring story line. He didn’t appreciate her enough to stop cheating on her for all those decades.

He did get high when the band put pot in brownies that he had in 1974. Kiss owe a lot to tour manager Sean Delaney who gave them a lot of their stage moves and manager Bill Aucoin who put their first tour on his American Express credit card.

And mess up all the pathetic females who line up to be degraded by the Success Object. (That phenomenon is what Donald Trump referenced.)

It is the way of this fallen, depraved world. I have known of this man’s acumen since the 1980s, but he may ultimately find that he is not, after all, God.

He is shrewd and self serving, not wise.

Ayn Rand would approve, but then she was atheist and amoral herself.

Do not equate pragmatism or opportunism with wisdom.

True liberty for all presupposes a moral universe, and a moral electorate. This kind of ruthlessly egocentric libertarianism cannot - cannot! - preserve the Republic.

I wasn’t a fan of KISS (I can only remember one of their songs), and I’m not a fan of how Simmons has lived his life.

But if you read the advice he gives in that column, it is actually pretty good. Thus, I said ‘surprisingly wise’.

I used to watch their TV show. He does not drink or do drugs. He does cheat like a champ on Shannon.

Kristy, the deceased Freeper NRA2BFree, knew Gene Simmons well.

Simmons had given his life to Christ many, many years ago.

I got to know Kristy well prior to her passing through emails and a few phone calls. She was a pretty amazing woman who had a deep love for her LORD and Savior.

Kristy was the first person who shared that Simmons was a Christian and involved with a ministry in NYC which I cannot recall at this time.

He was too busy getting laid to get drunk or stoned. More to the point, he felt he needed to be successful for his mother, to be the best as what he did, so she would be proud of him. And he saw many of his musical "heroes" destroy themselves with booze or drugs."

And he was married to Shannon tweed in the 80s. Lucky guy

While they were together for decades, and Shannon did one heck of a job raising what appear to be a couple of really good kids, Gene didn't agree to marry Shannon until just a few years ago.

Shannon appears to have been a terrific mother. Gene, a decent father to his kids, though he spent a lot of time on the road. But he hurt Shannon very badly over the years, and it speaks volumes of her love for him and their children, that she stayed with him.

Odd considering one of Rush was really bad to drink

I think you might be thinking of John Rutsey, who was the drummer for their earliest tours and on their first album. He had a drinking problem, and he had diabetes, two things that didn't play well together.

And while Geddy, Alex, and Neil probably did a fair amount of pot on their "own time," their music was too important to them to let anything (like drug use) interfere with their musicianship.

Part of the fun of Rush in concert is that you know they love what they're doing, and doing it together, and while they take their music very seriously, they didn't take themselves seriously at all. Even after 40 years together, Geddy and Alex often referred to Neil as "the new guy!"

Here’s part of the Rush documentary “Time Stands Still” where Geddy and Alex talks about “Mr. Bag” (Alex would put a bag over his head and goof off.)

“Gene was straight and didn’t smoke or drink, so he had a different sense of reality than we did.”

Two girls were in the room and were trying to get the bag off of Alex’s head, so they kicked them out of the room.

“And that REALLY pissed Gene off - ‘cuz he was only there for the two girls anyway!”
