....”a lot of South Koreans do measure their self-worth by how well they dress and what kinds of things they purchase and consume”.....
Oh my gosh yes! Status climbers to the hilt! Especially the women and what they ‘require’ of their men.........it’s an Asian thing pretty much across the Asian cultures.... Also plastic surgery on their faces from the early teens upward is a given. Extremely important the ‘face’ you present is not too oriental. Eye surgery is more common than pulling a bad tooth.
More food...maybe even at some forbidden capitalistic place like McDonalds...Hear pop music for the first time, make foreign friends. Some NKers will walk into church...all this depends of course on how monitored their actions are by some supervisor or whatever.
Russian church bells alone would be quite the novelty though. They can be heard everywhere. Beats the worship anthems to their “Dear Leader” if you ask me. Its insane to think about how sheltered from reality their lives are.
I don’t know what fairy tale stories e you’re imagining but N.Korean worker brigade camps In Russia are well guarded by N.Korean guards.....no different than when they work in N.Korea. They cannot leave the camps and are just as afraid of messing up as they are in N.Korea. .....they get no income of their own it goes to Fat Boy and they have no choice to go and why its called ‘Forced labor”...........mcDonalds’ and Pop music...you’ve got to be kidding !
Yes, 2024.
They are working on things like the World Cup stadiums so its not out of the question to be exposed to things inadverdently. And I just wrote that I met a tourist who was able to converse with a group of them on a train. Better than nothing.
A Russian boss said North Koreans work crazily long hours even on weekends.. They dont take holidays. They eat, work and sleep and nothing else. And they dont sleep much, he said. They are basically in the situation of slaves.....
Korea was once a united nation. They’ll figure it out.
