At some point, you run out of ways to squeeze more revenue out of the public and reality sets in; the same reality that walks in county facilities and are met with more indifference than compassion, which is why it's hard to feel much sympathy for some of these fat-and-panicked employees that have had secure jobs for decades.

I hate it for the individuals but this is just more proof that bigger and bigger government isn’t the solution.

Preckwinkle is a hardcore leftist and this is how she looks out for “the people”. Watch how her Marxist policies destroy Cook County. The soda tax was BS so get your hip-boots on, my friends. It’s going to get deep and wide.
Well, that’ what Chicago/Cook County get for electing so many communists and Marxists to key governmental/institutional positions from City Hall, City Council, Cook County Hospital, etc.

These Cook County workers will have to get real jobs - ones where they actually have to work. Poor snowflakes!

Too bad... You should always live below your means and save a little money. I haven't gotten a paycheck since May 2000. I am still here and pay my bills every month. My highest salary year was $50,000 and that was my last year at work. No pension. I am living off of savings and a little cabin rental business that me and my sweet wife do all by ourselves. We are 60 and loving life.......

That’s what happens to counties and cities controlled by democrats
for 60 years.
Look at what the RATs did to Detroit.

Welcome to the real world, government stooges. You know, the world where you can actually lose your job for almost any reason, at any time.

321 jobs cut to balance a $200M budget shortfall
that calculates to approximately $600K per job. any of these jobs below look like they deserve $600K per year? Keep in mind that $600K is the average.
includes:
-156 positions from the court system
-100 from the Cook County Sheriffs Department
-34 from the hospital system
-15 from the board presidents office
