They also used to hate the management of Whole Foods because it didn’t have employee unions but again, when Amazon took it over (it was a hostile takeover with the help of a third party) they gushed love for Whole Foods suddenly. Still no unions.
“Amazon even though Amazon doesnt treat employees that well.”
Amazon pays more and has better benefits for every tier of employee compared to Walmart.
“I dont like Bezos politics, but Amazon.com is a well run company.”
I’m very impressed with their website, their reliability, and their enormous array of goods. I went to Barnes and Noble the other day because someone gave me a gift card. Website is horrible.
Are you saying associates are non-employees? In the majority of cases, I think we’re dealing with a distinction without a difference between employee and associate.
>>An example of cartel socialism They spend money to buy politicians - get all sorts of government kickbacks - no normal business can compete.

THE AMAZON AMENDMENT WOULD EFFECTIVELY HAND GOVERNMENT PURCHASING POWER OVER TO AMAZON

...Language buried in Section 801 of the House-passed version of the National Defense Authorization Act, which is being hashed out in a conference committee with the Senate, would move Defense Department purchases of commercial off-the-shelf products to online marketplaces. Theoretically, that means any website that offers an array of options for paper clips or office furniture; in reality that signals likely dominance for Amazon Business, the companys commercial sales platform.
Section 801 stipulates that the program should be designed to enable Government-wide use of such marketplaces. Scale, then, is key. Over time, this change would give platforms like Amazon access to all $53 billion in federal government commercial item purchases.
It seems like Amazon wrote it, said Stacy Mitchell of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, which has written critical reports about Amazon in the past. It will accelerate the transfer of more and more government spending to Amazon....
I’d think that Amazon would require sales tax in any state that has one or more Whole Foods stores.
Especially since A-WF announced plans to put package delivery lockers in those stores to pick up items purchased via Amazon.com.
I don’t know WHAT an “hourly associate” is. It is very queer phrasing that seeks to avoid calling them EMPLOYEES.
I like both Wal-Mart and Amazon. Some folks hate just to be hating. Deep down inside, they don’t understand capitalism and resent profitable business.
” in reality that signals likely dominance for Amazon Business, the companys commercial sales platform.”
In reality every government agency can certify which online business they’ll buy from.
And the fact of the matter is Amazon will dominate because they have broader array of product, better pricing and more timely delivery than any other retailer in the world.
It sucks to be their competitor, or target. You WILL lose.
But they bought nothing from the government or congress and only a fool thinks the legislation favors Amazon per se.
You as a customer can call them anything you like. Factory workers may be called that by management while customer interface might sound better as ‘associate.’
Recently got an Amazon delivery. UPS guy said half his loads are Amazon boxes.
Associates arent expected to be around long enough to become employees. Amazon burns through employees like Bill ran through cigars. Interestingly, the turnover accelerates as associates approach vesting. Bezos is setting himself up for some Huge class-action suits.
Bezos is such a typical tech-baron: constantly virtue signaling and preaching while taking advantage in every possible manner.
My youngest daught started at the new facility in our area last week.
She was excited to keep health benefits with her position.
She was also excited that they have a program that helps with schooling costs and will look further into that when she gets settled in her job.
Thanks for playing, but I think you missed the point of my comment.
Our Liberal media has changed the Lexicon sometime in the past 20 years.
The media seems to like using the word workers.
Something is REALLY wrong with all of this.
Amazon Key is a new service that lets couriers unlock your front door
Youll need a smart lock and Amazons new Cloud Cam
Wisconsin’s Racine’s Foxconn plant will cover 20,000,000 sq ft. That’s nearly 20 times Amazon’s largest facility. Other Foxconn plants may be built nearby after completion of the main plant. Average starting pay: $55,000.
I’ve heard about the burnout from my brother’s friends who’ve worked there. And read reviews on a website (glassdoor?) from management unhappy working there.
I live on a dirt road 40 miles from the nearest city.
A lot of my routine Amazon orders come the next day, and the ones that don’t usually arrive in two days.
I wonder how many USPS packages these days are ebay purchases. When I have been in the post office mailing something, inevitably there are several people with boxes (outside of holiday seasons) stacked with outgoing packages (not typical business/commercial mailings)
Google the phrase. It’s all over the place.
I’ve been out of the workplace too long to know what it’s like.
In my days, we “shared” things at meetings, and (blame the phone company for this) ‘reached out’ to others.
I got out just before the tsunami of diversity training, for which I am thankful.
