During a recent Republican presidential forum, Donald Trump disparaged Senator John McCain’s war record, claiming that McCain is “not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
And the Internet responded, surfacing a photo that some are calling the perfect comeback and reminder of McCain’s service to his country.

Not a fan of either McCain or Trump. Trump going after McCain’s military services though was uncalled for. Everyone knows that McCain’s military service is a “no go zone.”
McCain’s political career though, is fair game.
Especially after he called anyone who supported Trump “crazies.”

How about re-framing the issue as it appears in today’s world.
If a man of thirty wants a wife who doesn’t already have at least on illegitimate child, she’s going to be divorced, lesbian, or somewhere around 16.
So he “noticed” her when she was 15 or 16. Is “noticing” now illegal? So any man who “notices” a teenage girl is unfit for being elected because he’s “creepy”? Only fags don’t notice attractive teenage girls. “Noticing” is not “dating”, “molesting” or “raping”.

I do not understand the moral disconnect between the south and the north on this one.
I suspect if Roy Moore was a liberal, Freepers would have a target on his back the size of Tennessee and the slightest allegation would be believed.
However, due to the timing of the allegations and the fact that Moore is a conservative, at the very least, the creep factor is being overlooked if not actually justified and celebrated by some.
If you find holes in the stories, why would you believe them?

There are many things in this country that are legal that are not OK in my book...

Eh sorry,I grew up in Chicagoland...it was certainly considered creepy for a teen girl to go out with a 30-something man. Period. If it did happen, it would have raised eyebrows.

Holes in stories...I think he initially indicated he did date high school girls.
However, that was not the point...The poster to whom I was responding said it was a northerner versus southerner thing...I said I think it has nothing to do with that..I think it is because he is a conservative and supporters will do whatever it takes to keep seat from going to a democrat. Whether he is guilty or innocent of anything including poor judgement is inconsequential to them.
I think a lot of people here would be singing a different tune if Moore was not a conservative.
I said that Freepers are justifying a 32 year old man going out with a high school aged girl...I don’t think it is a southern thing...see above...it is about voting for the perceived better candidate, a conservative.
I seem to recall that initially he did say he dated girls in high school and many here including yourself said that is just fine.
You can think it is fine for him to date girls 16 years younger. I personally think it is creepy—and I don’t care how conservative he is or how many other men date high school girls or whatever the rationale is...
Whether he is elected or not, I find acceptance of his dating patterns (to use another poster’s term) unacceptable. They were when I was growing up in the Midwest in the 70s and they are now in the Midwest.
I also find the intolerance of a differing opinion of some here very concerning.

I’m not really a proponent of a guy of 31 dating a 16 year old. But I’m not sure that happened. One girl claims she was 18, Moore remembers her as 19.
The one claiming to be 16 was exposed as a Democrat Party plant. So I can’t be sure that happened, or if it happened when she was an older teen and she’s lying now.
But either way, the original story, with the exception of Leigh Corfman, noted that nothing untoward happened.
So I can’t get all mad about that, see what I mean?
Also, my personal experience is brought to bear here. I dated a 31 year old right after I turned 19, but wanted to date him when I was 18. (He had a girlfriend then, but I definitely flirted with him when I was 18.) Alabama, circa 1981.
I can also look at the balance of Judge Moore’s life and see that wanting to marry a younger woman when he was 30 seems to have been a good strategy. He started dating her when she was 23, they married when she was 24.
But his over all life since then, he’s been a great guy. Never a whisper of anything improper about him.
