Last Monday the Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to honor Oregon Standoff protest spokesman Robert "LaVoy" Finicum by renaming a portion of road.
The two-mile stretch of Yellowstone Road will now be called LaVoy Finicum Road.
Supporters of the name change said that LaVoy "had the courage to stand up for what he believed" as reported by "OregonLive" which also reported that those opposed expressed the opinion "he went about it the wrong way".
Finicum was shot and killed during a "felony traffic stop" operation run by the FBI and supported by state and local police along US 395 in Harney County, Oregon.
Six shots were fired by Oregon State Police and two originally unaccounted for but then linked to FBI agent W. Joseph Astarita, who's charged with lying about the first two shots during the incident.......

Proofread articles before printing them. Its Oregon, not Arizona. But happy to see this move, well deserved.
Its in Mohave County, Arizona where the road will be renamed.
This is LaVoy’s home county in his home state, Arizona.
Good. He never should have been shot unless he pulled out a gun. He did not pull out a gun.
That wasn’t a felony traffic stop. It was a use of deadly force. According to longstanding rulings in Federal Court a roadblock such as this was an ambush and use of deadly force.
The FBI wasn’t agents, it was their HRT which were never cops. They are basically military guys sheep dipped into the FBI. That’s why they ambushed him, gunned him down like it was roadblock in Iraq, and lied about it.
This was a murder of a man who was enroute to speak to the Sheriff. He clearly had no demonstrated intent to go out and attack someone.
Foul murder.
The cell phone video from Inside
The Vehicle is chilling.
It wasn’t a felony traffic stop it was ambush and murder.
Foul murder.
Exactly what it was.
I made The motion. This is my County and I am on the Board of Supervisors.
Well done.
I think that local paper covered it unfairly. They cite two opposing views in depth when no such opposition showed at the final hearing.
Instead, after some initial confusion by Colorado City nearby, the P&Z staff recommended against approval. The local people in the area of the road were UNIVERSALLY in favor of it and got good guidance from their representatives and came back with proper efforts to make sure the County concerns were addressed. They were passionate and articulate in wanting a small remembrance of their relative and neighbor.
When the time for action was needed, one woman was positioned through long efforts to see these people got proper justice and the County handled it fairly to all concerned that appeared. That woman was you as you cite in your post above.
When someone abortively posted an article I went to the county site and listened to the entire hearing and read all of the documentation.
Damn, your Dad would be proud of you. I know I am and everyone on this website should be as well.
Thank you so much. That means the world to me.
