What difference does it make - they have contracts. It’s not like the get merit pay.

Contracts don’t mean a whole lot in the NFL. You can be dropped at any time. Contracts also have moral clauses and just like any other job, stop performing and you’ll be fired. The contract is an agreement of pay & responsibilities when you’re still employed.
