I think the narrative is shifting from the claim that the Russian ads were "fake news" to the new claim that they were "divisive".

Still trying to find the actual crime that was committed here, even if Russians did buy ads on Facebook.

Imagine yourself as a Michigan crossover Trump voter...you voted for him because the left abandoned the working class...but oh no, the media says you voted for him because you were duped into it by a FB ad...IOW the media is calling you a moron.

The question before the body is: Did the Russian intelligence agencies meddle in the US elections. Clearly the answer is yes.

Is that a desirable event? Clearly the answer is no.

So, in the future, how can loyal American citizens avoid being duped by GRU and Putin trolls? One way is for the social media outlets, like Freerepublic.com, for example, to take greater pains to scour their membership to isolate which posters are actually Russian trolls.

Seems like a fair request.

I heard a description of one of the Jill Stein ads (supposedly paid for by the Russians), and I just about died laughing at the notion that the ad was evidence of Russians "hacking" the election.

It was something to the effect of "If you vote for a Republican or a Democrat, you'll just get what you always have. Vote different. Vote Jill Stein! She can win!"
