Sorry for the ramble, I realize it's pretty bad.
I hate attention, but I wanna gloat a little bit.
Back to our regularly scheduled threads.

Degree from where? In what? It’s “fewer” than 30.

I didn't bother to even put together an outline for one. I was really nervous the whole day, and leading up to being introduced, my mind went blank. No other way to tackle public speaking except preparation and practice. Remember that for your next acceptance speech!

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. -Benjamin Franklin.
Don’t be hard on yourself about the speech. Most/all in attendance have already forgotten. But you did learn a valuable lesson.
Congratulations on your accomplishment.

Wasted some good school years myself. I was too interested in being a cheerleader, and dating the quarterback. Had to take American History three times. First time in 11th grade, the second in summer school, and the last time was in my senior year. Fast forward 14 years, I was divorced with two sons to raise by myself. I decided to take a night course at the local community college. Within six months, I was going to school full time nights, working full time days. Had 4.0 averages, and graduated summa cum laude. Went on for my four year degree, then my masters. And what did I major in? History of course!! It’s my favorite topic of study, and research. Never used my education for my job. I guess I was just trying to prove to myself that I could do it. I learned a lot, and met a lot of great people along the way.

Congratulations! Always like hearing about academic success. Especially from somebody who had to take the hard way to get there.
