If you know or suspect that somebody is in the country illegally, is it not your duty, as a citizen, to alert the authorities??????

That’s what I always thought. In today’s upside-down world, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was illegal to report an illegal.
It sounds like the police and ice are getting a full list of guests and the type of id from motels. They are also looking for criminals with outstanding warrants. Sounds legit to me. Many countries have hotels turn over a guest list to the police. Sounds like they are now using some computerized system.
