I found out simply by accident about Tennessee's spending seized assets on food, beverage, & catering last week when the DOJ released the report. Talk about the old, "if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it does it make a sound" or whatever. If the Tennessee Department of Safety misspent seized assets isn't covered in print or by local news stations, were assets actually misspent? DUHHHHH! How stupid! I've told everyone about it. Local media is totally unconcerned with seeking out news stories and rely instead on being spoonfed PR releases under the guise of a news item. The only crimes reported are shootings in black dominated populations, or particularly heinous murders, or cases of animal abuse. If you were visiting, you'd be left with the impression would be that we're a relatively crime-free Mayberry. FYI: Don't use the greenways, especially in the city limits, unless you're armed especially if you're a woman...it's just commonsense. The greenways are isolated, unlit, and shrouded in leaves from trees, bushes & weeds. Homeless camps are set up just off the trails. If you want to use drugs? Want to assault someone? Rob someone? Murder someone? Knoxville greenways are the ideal place as police rarely patrol the actual greenways. There are 112 miles of greenway and 3/4 of it is secluded.

This stuff doesn’t get reported, because the local media doesn’t want to lose their access to the police and news conferences.
