I’m always irritated at “what if we shoot X” videos that go out of their way to induce explosions unrelated to the shot itself (beyond the shot simply being a trigger for the obvious).
Just laying a road flare on a propane tank might be enough to ignite it. Shooting it merely opens a hole from a safe distance.

Quite. If the target is prone to explosions, at least let the bullet supply the ignition.
Even then, make clear the bullet is still just a trigger - the explosion is NOT a matter of the shot.
Punch a bullet thru interesting things (armored steel, thick wood, walls, underwater, etc) and I’ll be impressed.
(Don’t get me wrong. Stuff going kablooie is cool.)

This shows what happens when you shoot propane tanks so some poor idjit doesn’t have to go out and try the experiment hisself to find out.No, it shows what happens when you shot a propane tank that has a lighted flare on top of it. Why a .50 cal? A .30 cal would have penetrated the propane tank and released the propane to be ignited by the lite flare.
The Mythbusters did this experiment. They found that shooting a propane tank with a normal rifle round just poked a hole in the propane tank. IIRC, they got their explosion only with an incendiary round. There has to a source of ignition.

The test implies two tanks were penetrated, and both blew up. The video shows one tank spinning (clearly it got penetrated.) But the others? Burned out maybe when the fire around them blew the tank open from high pressure due to the heat?
Should have shot one at a time. Tracer.

I used to shoot at armored steel “drums” full of fuel, live ammunition and people trying to kill me. (Please, dont tell my mom!)
This is pretty passive in comparison.
