The reservation system and what you just cited with the Micronesians were microscopic experiments of the consequences of welfare. We then go and apply the same “solution” to urban America, guess what we got the same result! Again we didn’t learn and now are applying that solution to rural and semirural America. It wasn’t our money that did that. I lived there, I know. They go to American colleges and get advanced degrees then go back home and do nothing. My maid had a Master’s degree in English. She preferred working as a maid. The marina captain had an Electrical Engineering degree. Preferred fishing.
