And 10 degrees hotter...:^)
I grew up in Tucson. Left for the last time in 9172. I now only go back for funerals. The place has turned into a leftest zoo with high crime....
Of course, compared to NYC....
Born, raised, and educated in NYC through Fordham Univ. We even returned to NYC twice, once after med school and once after military service. Left 42 years ago and have never regretted leaving.
Tucson hae been our home since 2000, and we love it. True it gets hot, but we have developed strategies to work around it. Tucson city and Pima County politics suck, but Rep. Martha McSally is by far superior to any Democrat and is the best that the local milieu could elect.
I assume that you may move to Saddle Brooke.
Pleas feel free to contact me privately.
Feel free
Maybe, but on the fringe of the valley not so much.
Freeway trip east from Tucson brings you to the s**t hole desert town of Deming, NM. home to “Forghetaboudit Pizza”. Won best traditional pizza in the south west, 2nd in the nation and 4th in the world for their pepperoni and sausage.
Just keep in mind, although Arizona is still pretty republican, Tucson and Phoenix is drifting left. We welcome another republican to AZ
...
Just about every large city is infested. The dividing line for Conservatives and liberals is between rural areas and cities.
Ps: If the Dodgers made the move You can also.
Hope my first vote will be for Kelli Ward for Senate.
The development I’m moving to is 20 miles from Tucson, although the mailing address is Tucson. No traffic. People get around on golf carts.
We lived there for a while. I love the weather there for the most part. The people tend to be social liberals. On one side of Tucson, the Congresscritter is a communist. On the other side, think Gabby Giffords and prior to that there was a gay Republican whose name escapes me. There is a shooting range on the southwest side. You can find conservatives there.
Mi Nidito is our favorite restaurant there. Mmm. Makes me wanna go on a road trip!
Thanks for the advice re: Mount Lemmon. I have a view of Mount Lemmon from my front yard and the Catalinas from the back yard (or vice versa).
I’ll be 8 miles north of Oro Valley. Most of the people I met on my trip to look at homes were Trump voters — such a welcome change from Brooklyn.
I’m from New York
You’ll enjoy the light and space of southern AZ
I fell in love with the particular development near Tucson. It was the only 55+ development where you could get a home with a gorgeous mountain view at all price ranges — in the other 55+ developments, you have to spend 600k plus to get that kind of view.
Agree about dry heat and low humidity. Have to change clothes 3x a day during the summer in NY! Soaking wet just to go a block or two.
Landscaper found a snake last week weeding. Will put Fire/Rescue in contacts for a sighting, but realtor said snakes stay away from people unless they are drunk or hunting for lost golf balls. In other words, watch where you’re going and you won’t “woke” a rattlesnake.
I read on FR years back that this development had the largest Republican Club in the country. Possibly I am “overcorrecting” for living in a midnight blue area of a blue state, but as Woody Allen said, “the heart wants what the heart wants.”
I’ve always been told “Go to Tuscon, don’t live in Tuscon”. One of my very liberal friends lives in Tuscon and she seems to think it is liberal enough. She is a fascinating person(major internet pioneer, had a alt.usenet named for her).
Yes, Tuscon’s federal house rep is a GOPer, Martha McSally. Did you consider Prescott. Prescott’s federal house rep is a GOPer - Paul Gosar. Prescott is never as hot as Tuscon and actually has winters that can get cold (higher elevation) and Prescott while a good enough size city (43k) is not a megalopolis like Phoenix nor as big as Tuscon (500+k). Prescott and Tuscon are near opposites within Arizona state limits, with Prescott towards the NE of the state and Tuscon towards the SW.
What town?
