THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS WE HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE HARVEY BEFORE. I have gathered downloads and everything I feel one would need to stay informed about Harvey and EFFECTED AREAS. Our prayers are with everyone in the path of Harvey and the ongoing flooding. God bless all you and all the rescuers out there.

I’ve always heard that Dentists have the highest suicide rate of all occupations. I would think it would be meteorology though. It’s got to be tough being wrong most of the time and having that affect many people.

Dentists? I thought it was shrinks. But anyway...who cares if the meterologists are wrong...we actually expect it. But having the wrong tooth pulled...that's another matter entirely.

Ah yes, an attempt to tie it to Global Warming (TM) by claiming this one is unprecedented. I’m sure it’s happened before, maybe when only Mexicans and Spaniards ruled the land, but it’s happened.

I remember that summer very well. Rain in Midland and I was shocked when I flew into Oklahoma City. From the air it looked totally beat down by the heat. That was the summer I promised God I would never ever complain about rain again. 2010/2011 in Texas reaffirmed that promise.

I do remember Allen also though not as well as you but I do remember the massive heat dome well enough that I dread mention of a dome of high pressure air in the summer.

When I first moved to Florida, a colleague told me:
Cat 4 and 5 are bad, everything else is just a rainy windy day.
Truth!

That dolt anchor on KHOU cut off Doug Harvey, a guest commentator, when he was trying to tell about Barker Cypress, Addicks and a third reservoir they were considering building. It would be interesting to know where they had planned to build it.

New Yorker, figures. Rude sob. Len Cannon is his name.

This will be a catastrophic event over the area.

There will be no comparison. Prayers for Texas.

I think there really is weather manipulation going on. A “Weather war”.

If only monuments were built like the Monolith. That is, highly resistant to vandalism or removal.

Dentists cause pain and have low job satisfaction rates. Physical therapists cause pain and have high job satisfaction rates.

Not sure why they think it crazy to evacuate. Last year or so, the ahurricane along the Florida coast saw many evacuations in orderly fashion without problems. The thing was a virtual nothingburger.

Yes, at the very bottom of the article we always find the real reason. Dude says there are a lot of construction but noplanning for drainage.

This s purely blamable on man made socialism, not global warming.

It can’t be Antifa, because the monolith would have made them sentient. Antifa would run from it, not touch it.

Yes, it’s bad, but it is melodrama and sensationalism that sells.

while this truly is a remarkable rain event..it pales in comparison to the flash floods that the remnants of Hurricane Camille laid on Nelson County Virginia in 1969....31 inches of rain in 6 hours over one county. The forecast for that night was for “light showers”..they never saw it coming and are still not quite sure what exactly happened. Almost 200 died hundreds of miles from where the storm made landfall. Over 50 souls were never recovered, entire mountain sides just liquified..torrents of trees..boulders and soil tore away from the earth. Survivors all remembered that a few minutes before the slides began, all said a very “foul smell” of tree bark and Earth filled the air. there are pics on the net of the aftermath...some of the oddest weather related damage ever seen.
