My Warnings of Democrat Historical Revision Went Unheeded

With the Democrats in full attack mode, shamelessly exploiting the tragic events of Charlottesville and eradicating any monuments that implied a racist past, Conservatives are now on all media platforms decrying the attempt to whitewash the racist history of the Democrat Party; the party to whom almost all of those depicted in the monuments aligned with.

I was one of a group of black conservatives who've been sounding the alarm bells on this topic for decades. My very first op-ed bore the frustration of the party that was born by abolitionists to oppose slavery was being falsely accused of racism unchallenged.

That aside, I hear the OP’s lament.

There are some things in this world that really are either-or propositions with nothing in between.

Either Christ is Lord or He is not.

Either the federal has specific enumerated Powers beyond which it has no right to go or it has general power in all circumstances whatsoever.

Either a man’s race, the color of his skin, says something ineffable about him, defining who is is, can be and indeed should be or it says nothing of the sort but instead it is a man’s beliefs and actions that speak of his character and honor.

With the last, despite the flirtation that the civil rights movement had with the idea that men are summed up by their character rather than by skin, there has been a strong desire by people in this country to define folks by appearance. For a long time this is what was done TO black people and now sadly it is what is being done BY many back people ... to themselves and not just to whites.

It’s as if the race narrative behind black slavery and segregation, an idea once considered “scientific” that there were substantive differences between the race that almost amounted to black folks being considered a sub-species, has been taken up now to keep black people in rather than, as in the old days, to keep them out.

Revision of history by a totalitarian, oppressive political party was predicted by George Orwell in “1984” written in 1949.
The similarities to actions by Democrats and other liberals is startling.

Why has the GOP been so sorrowfully poor at calling out the Dims for their racist past? Why are they so poor at COMMUNICATING any “Conservative” position. Because somehow the majority get to be Washington D.C. incumbents while being poor communicators, in the first place, and MOSTLY also always playing DEFENSE with the Dims and their media BECAUSE they are so inarticulate at offense. That is the GOPe and too many of them are still in charge of too much of the GOP elected bodies.
