I was never really pizzed off about friends who had died, my wounds, (relatively minor as things go) 50,000 names on a wall.... until I read that book!
I’m still a USAR JAG on age waivers. Any time I’m at DA, they give me an office to work in, etc. I always ensure that book is front and center on my deak when some REMF comes in to tell me what we “really should be doing...”
I need to get it on the reading list, which is pretty deep at the moment. But I’ve already read enough about McNamara to know what a disaster he was. And I’ve been seen enough “Bobs” (Office Space reference) in the corporate world to know how bad McNamara’s Whiz Kids must have been to real warfighters.
