Nope, same as if your house is burglarized, there is no law which forces you to report it. If you are beaten up by a thug, it is your option, as a non-government entity, to file or not file charges.

Obviously I am not a legal beagle, but there are various reporting requirements if sensitive private data such as financial data is stolen or is suspected of being stolen. It may not be criminal to do nothing, but they would be opening themselves up to civil fines.

The police don't need you to be cooperative to investigate a crime. A neighbor could call it in and have the police come around asking questions. Obviously, if you got beat up and refuse to testify there isn't much of a case unless it is on video.
