BTW if you're interested in working remotely and don't want to move, there are plenty of opportunities available for folks with your skills. Make some good $$ especially if you live in the south where the cost of living is lower.

I think we're hiring however I don't think I'd recommend my current employer to anyone. It's fricking insane in financial services right now.

Well, yes I’d telecommute, officially or otherwise.

I’ve had mixed experiences with that, everything from sweet to sour. I’d probably be happiest in an environment where there is regular team coordination (scrums, etc.) no matter how it happens. Somehow I have seemed to be a magnet for the dysfunctional cases. I’ve learned a lot — there isn’t as much room to be a lone ranger in IT as there used to be. IT is a commodity today, even the technologies that used to be loaded with pioneering romance. My last contract, I was working in a situation where the lead programmer was living in yesteryear. Trying to talk to him from the present was a challenge and I finally had enough and let him and his boss know about it. They didn’t blame me for the split.
