I understand it Detroit was full of rednecks at one time, coming up from the South to work in the auto industry....supposedly there still is one red neck bar there.

housing would be cheap....many older houses have that quality that you just can not get in newer houses including wonderful wood work and brick work...

if you could find a stable neighborhood with like minded people, it would be a blessing...

Well... Now I’m looking a little further south. Like Gainesville, FL.

I’d go to Detroit, but if I had other choices I might not be so hot about that. Gainesville seems to fit my logistics better. Not in the bag yet, but I have good vibes so far.
