well imho .. i would see first if i could find a good job somewhere else
there are some decent to nice places to live OUTSIDE of Detroit, but would your office still be in D-city itself?
then I would see if I could find somewhere else to work
avoid Detroit, Flint, Dearborn, and a few more if you value your safety.
Ann Arbor is nice but overpriced due to university, check some of the smaller or more rural areas as some of them are quite nice and cheaper
just my 2 cents worth. i see others advising YES. Ok, then the answer has to be...go look and evaluate for yourself.
but be careful of the dangerous and “Amish” areas is all I can say, go look
Good areas are Northville, WalledLake (Commerce Township), Canton
“avoid Detroit, Flint, Dearborn, and a few more if you value your safety.” -—— I”ll SAY! and let me add........
“If you have a wife and kids , or plan on having a family,?,
just Scratch Detroit and all of S.E. Michigan. It won’t be worth it and you’ll be forever in remorse.”
I left in ‘79. There are just too many other places to live where you can Live - Well!
I worked downtown Detroit for a few months back in the 80s.
In no uncertain terms, my boss made it clear that I was to make sure I left the office no later than 4:30 in the afternoon.
