Hang in there.

After what Scaramooch said the other day, one hopes you’re not “Steve Bannonning” yourself.
I wasn’t aware people were dying to have you around. Geesh LOL
Don’t know whether VikingKitties was banned from FR - but I was curious too and found this while searching. Very hateful toward FReeRepublic and cites posters by name - even including face page photos. Very strange and spiteful.

PROFILING SOFTWARE
and fixing problems.
o Isolate & Replace is better than Try this Try that
Intentional Isolating a recurring software problem is the preferred method of troubleshooting. Therefore we will discuss software Profiling.
o Profiling
Software Profiling means printing out to memory, but usually to a hard drive file, the relevant functions, with specific relevant data, referenced by objects and modules. For example, the debug profiling file may read:
obj DoSomething func DoingIt dataNumber 327 dataName Bob
obj More func DoMore dataMore 489blahblah
. . .
Profiling is real time. Can be turned on/off real time by a simple setting property/variable. Reading such a file is the easiest, and probably the only way to understand quickly how a complex software operates. No more guessing.
o Debug Object
Yes a troubleshooting object is global everywhere. But it is the only global object. It can be local, with more difficulty.
Fortunately when the failure is isolated, solved, and fixed, the Debug Object is removed.
Example is simply: oDebug.printf( blah blah )
o Logging
Faulty problems can be Internal or External, Client or Server or else. Locate all relevant log files, but if possible, a Debug Log file, also called Profiling, should eliminate guessing.
Programmers can take a slow years or never, to understand how a specific software operates. By Profiling, in only days not years, can complex software be made easy to understand, then isolate and fix.
o Intermittency vs Hard Fail
Intermittent problems are far more difficult to solve unless Profiled with Debug files.
o Concurrency
Search & identify all concurrency such as threads, semaphores and such, in the language used.
Viking Kitty (singular) was banned;)
Oh, that wasn't my FIRST modem; it was just the one I had when I switched from CompuServe to plain ISP service with a local outfit. Prior to that I had 300 starting in the late 70's, 1200 in the early 80's, and 2400 until about 1992.
Given FR's political position and content, I don't think any of the commercial outfits are a safe haven. My personal favorite is Amazon for my business and personal "cloud" VMs, but Frankly I wouldn't trust anything run by leftists.
Akamai might be the best choice. They're pricey, but they're the outfit that the other big guys go to for ultra-reliable distributed service -- even Microsoft has hosted some of their own stuff on Akamai (like Windows Updates).
YOU put a sock in it.
Take a break.
What’s the problem?
Thank you, Bob. I did miss it. Thx.
Rita
Funny, weren’t you one of the crew that left FR for TrueBlew Liberty?
And didn’t you say you were happier there with Bob J?
Whatever happened to that tiny troll site anyway?
And I noticed that some of the same characters keep showing up saying the same crap.

And didnt you say you were happier there with Bob J?
What on earth are you talking about?
Is anyone holding a gun on you making you stay?
Yeah, thought you’d play that.
Heh.
LOL! Are you accusing me of posting over at some other forum? I have accounts at dozens of forums, some I haven't visited more than once or twice in years.
I dunno, does True Blue Liberty work or does it crash every night? Maybe I should check it out.
Why do you care?
You're acting like some cuckolded wife who smelled perfume on her husbands collar, "You've been visiting that other forum, haven't you? HAVEN'T YOU!!!"
Seems I struck a nerve.
Is that the best You can do???
I used to log on the NRA Site back in the "Dim Ages" with a 2400 baud modem and MY HOUSE Phone jack. I had to pay Long Distance Charges by the Minute. Back in the days BEFORE "Packaged Phone/TV/Net" was even thought of!!!
I also remember at the Auto Parts Store the Fax Machine that 1 piece of paper for the Stock Order was clipped to a drum and wrapped around it, then the Telephone Handset was pushed into 2 rubber boots so the "Tone" could transmit and receive by the sound- at 300 baud...
When the A/P Store went to Computer it was a 6' x3'x4' cabinet that had a Hard Drive 18" in diameter fixed Storage in the HD Controller rack and We had to set the Boot/OS Disk (also 18" diameter) in the hole above the Storage Disk and then start the Boot process that took about 5 minutes, it had the Master CRT Terminal and 3 Slave CRT Terminals along with a Tractor Feed Dot Matrix Invoice Printer.
To run the 2nd Store there was a Dedicated Data Line from AT&T between the 2 Stores that used 2 Multiplexer Modems and that could only run 2 Slave Terminals and 1 slave Tractor Feed Dot Matrix Invoice Printer. Invoices took about 1.5 minutes at the remote Store vs 20 seconds at the Server Store to print and at the Server CRT it was so slow that you could watch each line load on the screen a few words at a time.
P.S. The Computer was programmed in ASSEMBLER CODE./a>
