An interesting analogy I suppose.
While Galileo and Copernicus were advocating the heliocentric model, the overwhelming scientific ‘consensus’ wanted to stick with the Ptolemaic geocentric model.
Galileo and Copernicus faced extreme, and violent, opposition from entrenched ‘scientific’ community of the day who had a lot invested in their reputations to defend the consensus.
