That's true, but the question is why?
It's not because the leadership wants to live under sharia. There's something else at work here.
Leftists are indoctrinated with the notion that Western Civilization is the cause of all evil in the world. They want to bring it down so they can rebuild it into their fantasy socialist utopia. They cannot comprehend that their worldview is 180 degrees from reality.
The peasants will be terrorized into compliance but it won't be a fascist government doing it.
