Arrhythmia doesn’t kill, it just annoys. It doesn’t cause people to fall either. .

"An arrhythmia can cause syncope in the same way that it causes lightheadedness (presyncope). ... With syncope, though, the arrhythmia causes such a dramatic drop in the blood pressure that the brain does not receive enough blood to keep you conscious, and you lose consciousness as a result."

Oops.

I remember this too - Kasich & Joe left Congress about the same time & so did Bill Paxon & Susan Molinari.

They all needed more time with their families.

Charges dismissed in retrial of man convicted of Chandra Levy murder
foxnews ^ | July 28, 2016

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC on Thursday moved to dismiss the case — and a retrial — against Ingmar Guandique, the illegal immigrant previously convicted of murdering intern Chandra Levy in May 2001, citing “unforeseen developments.”

Guandique, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, is set to be released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.

The 2010 conviction of Guandique — and the 60-year prison sentenced imposed on him at the time — was vacated and a new trial was ordered in 2015 based on what Guandique’s defense team said was new evidence.

“Today, in the interests of justice and based on recent unforeseen developments that were investigated over the past week, the Office moved to dismiss the case charging Ingmar Guandique with the May 2001 murder of Chandra Levy,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “The Office has concluded that it can no longer prove the murder case against Mr. Guandique beyond a reasonable doubt.”

“Wouldn’t it be unusual for a person with heart disease to run well in an 8k race?”

I imagine that depends on the nature of the disease. Arrhythmia, irregular heartbeat, is what her problem was said to be. Apparently it can result from a a number of underlying heart conditions. It may be like asthma, which for some is a seriously debilitating condition while others can compete at the Olympic level.

I have a friend who developed an enlarged heart in his 40s, likely as a result of an arthritis medication. Arrhythmia became a serious risk for him to the point that he was given a pacemaker/defibrillator and declared medically disabled. OTOH I have a relative in her 90s with arrhythmia who takes only a mild medication for it and is very active.

‘Arrhythmia, irregular heartbeat, is what her problem was said to be.’

What is your source? Klausutis’ immediate family denied she had any significant health issues.

Another suspicious thing is that when I search on the dead girl’s name on Google, I only get one black and white image which looks to be from high school or college.

The age of her death was 28. Seems like there should be many more pictures of her available.

So once again, a Trump tweet that at first sounds outrageous begins to look real: “Psycho Joe”.

I thought she had known that she had heart disease but according the St Augustine Record article it wasn’t discovered until the autopsy:

http://staugustine.com/stories/080701/sta_0807010035.shtml#.WVbuutUrK3A

Published Tuesday, August 07, 2001
FORT WALTON BEACH, — A 28-year-old congressional aide who died last month in her Panhandle office lost consciousness because of an abnormal heart rhythm and fell, hitting her head on the desk.

Although the immediate cause of Lori Klausutis’ death was the head injury, the abnormal heart rhythm may have proven fatal in itself, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy said Monday.

Klausutis didn’t know she had the heart condition that caused the abnormality, Dr. Michael Berkland said.

The body of the Niceville woman was found July 20 in the Fort Walton Beach office of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough.

She was a constituent services coordinator for Scarborough, joining his office staff in May 1999.

Scarborough, a Pensacola Republican first elected in 1994, is leaving office in September.

Berkland said Monday that tests revealed that Klausutis had a previously undiagnosed heart condition known to cause abnormal heart rhythms.

‘’The head injury which represents the immediate cause of death was clearly as a result of an unprotected fall in a person who had lost consciousness or was losing consciousness from a probable cardiac arrhythmia,’’ Berkland said in a news release.

Even though this is a lengthy excerpt, it doesn’t touch on nearly all the issues and abnormalities related to Klausutis’ death. You really want to follow the link and read the full article.

“* The fainting story does not add up—What is the likelihood that an apparently healthy woman, who ran marathons, would faint and hit her head on a desk in such a way that would cause death? It’s pretty unlikely, our research indicates. ReportsAPJ:

Presumably the heart valve condition alluded to is Mitral Valve Prolapse. This may be associated with arrhythmias, but rarely with VTach (ventricular tachycardia) or VFib (ventricular fibrillation), the only arrhythmias which would stop the flow of blood to the brain.

Generally, with syncope of whatever cause the “guarding reflex,” wherein one raises a hand to protect the head, is preserved.

A report at onlinejournal.com, stated that such a fall in a healthy person is unlikely to cause death. Berkland’s determination of an accidental death, however, brought the investigation to a virtual halt:

According to the medical literature, simple falls in young, healthy people, virtually never cause
death. Berkland’s claim that injury opposite to the site of impact is observed only when a
person’s head hits a stationary object is also contradicted by the literature. . . .

The autopsy describes the prolapsed mitral valve in great detail, claiming that the medical
literature sustains the notion that this is likely to be fatal.

Dr. Berkland contends in lengthy autopsy comments that “there are only about three entities that generally cause one to drop in midsentence or in midstride . . . pulmonary embolus . . . a ruptured aneurysm . . . and most common, is a sudden cardiac arrhythmia.” Yet, the medical literature suggests that neither pulmonary emboli nor aneurysms are likely to cause immediate loss of consciousness. A blow to the head is a common cause of loss of consciousness. . . .

Finally, although the report shows the subdural hematoma was severe, it was far from the site deep in the brain stem that controls heartbeat and respiration. Dr. Berkland’s microscopics give no description of the brain stem and no evidence that it was damaged at all, leaving a question as to the exact cause of death. Ed Friedlander, M.D., a noted forensic pathologist has stated that “A good rule of thumb is that nothing inside the head short of a gunshot wound through the lower brain stem will kill a person in less than 60 minutes.”

* The medical examiner had a troubled history—Before moving to Florida, Dr. Berkland had practiced in Kansas City, Missouri. His time there ended in controversy. Reports onlinejournal.com:

Before moving to Florida, Dr. Berkland had worked in Kansas City, MO. The August 30 edition of the Pitch Weekly, based in that city, noted in its Kansas City Strip column, “Former Jackson County coroner, Mike Berkland, provides the brains for a scandal in Florida.”

The Pitch said, “Berkland claims he ‘sectioned’ Klausutis’ brain during her autopsy to determine that her head was injured by a fall, not by a blow from a weapon. But that’s the same sort of claim that got Berkland run out of Kansas City in 1996, after he’d falsely reported that he’d sectioned brains later found whole by his boss—a mistake he blames on poorly proofread reports written with computer macros. No such mistake occurred with Klausutis’ brain Berkland told the Pitch. ‘You can rest assured it was sectioned,’ he says.”

Jennifer Van Bergen, writing at Truthout, said Berkland’s actions both in Missouri and Florida raise serious questions about the Lori Klausutis investigation:

The final touch in this case which simply makes it cry out for further investigation is the fact that Associate Medical Examiner Michael Berkland had lost his license in Missouri in 1998 for “misrepresentation or unethical conduct and knowingly making a false statement in the autopsy reports.” As a result, Berkland was suspended from practice in Florida.”

The DailyKos didn’t invent the fact that this quack has lost his license in two states for lying in autopsy reports. In fact, the article is full of actual facts that Kos didn’t invent. But they all align against your view, so rather than address them you ignore them.

Wayne Dupree, award winning conservative blogger, reaches the same conclusion as Kos:

“But they all align against your view, so rather than address them you ignore them.”

GFY. Daily Kos is no different than MSNBC. The fact that you are claiming them as a reliable source is proof that you turn your little brain off when the swill that they are serving is something you find tasty.

The tiny little brain is the one that answers facts with vulgarties. The Wayne Dupree article underscores what a quack this disgraced autopsy doctor is. He’s awaiting trial for keeping human remains in a storage unit that was later auctioned. In addition to medical malpractice, the guy just isn’t very bright.

Excerpt from the Dupree article:

“The mainstream press largely ignored the case, but our review of several investigative reports indicates the official finding is highly questionable.

Does that mean Joe Scarborough is a murderer? No. But we suspect someone who had access to Scarborough’s office in 2001 is a murderer. We find it unlikely that the head trauma that killed Lori Klausutis was the result of an accident.

On July 20, 2001, at 8:10 AM, the body of Lori Klausutis was discovered on the floor of the North Fort Walton Beach office of retiring Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough of Florida. One might have expected an intensive investigation but the medical examiner is the referee in the investigation of suspicious deaths. He concluded the death is accidental, and the investigation stopped.

However, It seems unlikely that a 29 year old girl could fracture her skull from a fall in an office. Did she bang her head on the desk, or did “Congressman Joe” do it for her? The details to this case are EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS. Even more suspicious is the total lack of media coverage while at the same time the Condit/Levy case was sensationalized. Who can shed light on this??

Police arrested former medical examiner Michael Berkland on Friday for allegedly keeping crudely preserved human remains in a rented storage unit in Florida last month.NOTE: Berkland was examiner in Lori Klausutis’ death.

Berkland, 57, was charged with of improper storage of hazardous waste, keeping a public nuisance and driving with a suspended license. He was released on $10,000 bail.”

Well, not sure about other normal people ....

I have no one in my circles that had a dead 28 year old intern in their office, who mysteriously fell and hit their head while alone in said office. Add in the coroner also lost his license 3 years earlier for “misrepresentation or unethical conduct and knowingly making a false statement in the autopsy reports.” As a result, “he was suspended from practice in that state.” Additionally deceased persons family is shocked because girl was in perfect health, and ran marathons for FUN.... on and on and on...

This case is more than how you portray.
Just 5 minutes reading any of the facts tells you that.

Just because these people get away with these thing, doesn’t mean it’s common or acceptable to just ignore.

We are talking about a congressman.
