I agree - there was some very noxious admiration for Hitler in WW2. But AFAIK it was not because of Jew killing! Hindus in support of eugenics??? Never heard of it. Indians historically have been the most tolerant of other religions. There have been Jews in India for around 2000 years.
Historically speaking, Indian Hindus were tortured and killed by the Portuguese if they did not convert. It went on for a long time in Goa. That is why there are Indian Catholics around Goa - Dinesh D’Souza is a descent of one.
Some of the Protestant sects use very dishonest and coercive conversion methods; not beatings of course but other repulsive measures which I have described in the past. Demonizing Hindu gods and beliefs is unacceptable, and this they do regularly, tell people they’re going to hell forever, open free schools for children in poor areas and after a year or so tell the parents the kids can’t come any more unless the families convert, having food distribution to the poor and then after a while telling them they have to convert if they want to have food, etc.
Sneak, dishonest, coercive methods like those and the above are commonly used in India and some Hindus are getting fed up with this.
The only honest way to offer Christianity to Hindus (or anyone) is present Jesus’ teachings as they are and if people accept, fine. Dishonesty, bribery and threats are 100% opposed to Jesus’ way!
Good point, I have also read that Bose was a hardcore communist. I guess the Naxalites are his ideological descendants.
I remember s guy on FR who used to send donations to a church in India, got news it burned down, sent more $, and went over to help.
Turned out there was no burned out church, and it was a lie - no church at all.
A lot of the “news” about Hindu atrocities to Christians is either totally false or so exaggerated it’s not believable. I have no time to go into each article to find out if it’s true or not from other sources
Of course some atrocities happen as there are evil people in every religion, race and nationality.
But consider the great honor and reverence Mother Therasa was given in India. Indians in general and Hindus do not hate Christians. Some people are evil, and a lot of Christian proselytizing is aggressive and dishonest and offensive to Hinduism, and they should stop that. Christians should follow Jesus’ teachings and present them honestly and many Hindus would be more appreciative of their presence.
I agree with your last paragraph. I cannot speak for what other Protestants and especially Catholics do or say. A forced conversion is not a real conversion. It needs to be in the heart.
I once had a former Indian colleague (within last 5 years) express that he felt sorry for Hitler. Never heard it before or since.
