If that Russian revolution had had to deal with the countryside being vastly more armed and proficient than the city marxists it would have fizzled.
As it stood you had a vast countryside population hardly above the level of still being serfs and scattered over a huge area where you as often as not wouldn’t have any social or cultural similarities to people as little as 50-100 miles away.
If you HAD a weapon then you’d maybe have 10 or 20 rounds of ammo, and that was if you were relatively wealthy and weren’t still using a muzzle loader.
Today here in the US somewhere between 15 and 20 million people fielding hunting rifles alone that will remove an individual from conflict permanently if the target is hit pretty much anywhere from knees or elbows inward towards the torso.

That’s exactly what they had to deal with. Overwhelming numbers works once they have people trained to fight.

Sure, but you can’t be everywhere at once. In America they’ll drive up in buses by the thousands and attack individual farms, small towns, ect and then retreat before you can gather enough people together to fight back. Or they’ll send a huge army destroy a large area and steal everything they can and then retreat back to the cities.
They’ll take a lot more losses, but with unlimited immigration they’ll have unlimited recruits who can make war their full time job while most red americans will have to work and fight part time while having their homes, farms and oil wells destroyed by raiders.
Worse they’ll use leftist spies telling them when places are relatively undefended and the alike so we’ll always be at a disadvantage in a defensive war.
The defensive model doesn’t work unless you build something like a wall at all border points and that’s a lot area to defend. Going on the offensive before they can train up an army will result in the best likelihood of not ending up in a gulag. Waiting for them to get organized when they hold all the major cities is a death sentence.
