I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Ping.
Amen!
Good job balancing speaking of the deceased and preaching Christianity. The US Catholic bishops have told their priests that the funeral sermon ought to be more than a eulogy. Paul Scalia did a good job of this in his sermon for his father’s funeral.
Thank you for posting this.
How can the Father have knowledge that the Son does not?
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
This scripture drives a stake in the heart of the Tri-une God since God and Christ/HG are imbodied within one being, it is impossible for one entity to have knowledge that another one does not.
Maybe when Emperor Constantine dictated the ‘Homoousis’ part of the Nicene Creed He was wrong! He certainly thought so, since he spent the rest of his life trying to reverse it by kicking out the Nicene Clergy and replacing them with Arian clergy. When Constantine was finally baptised, he was baptised by an Arian Bishop.
The Nicene Creed didn’t gain traction until the Emperor “Julian the Apostate” brought in the Nicene fathers and kicked out the Arian ones.
The final triumph of the Nicene Creed was when Emperor Theodosis after only a few wekks after his bpatism/conversion declared the Edict of Thesalica which made Arian Christianity a matter for Capital Punishment.
I really don’t think Christ’s gospel should be have been decided by an Emperor through mortal coersion, ....yet that is how the Triune God came to be.
‘Triune God????’ It’s ‘Father, Son and Holy Ghost.’ Stop the PC crap.
