According to Oxford Economics, 65,000 US rail jobs are under threat due to import form China of the freight rail cars into the country. If the United States allows some of China’s largest producers of freight rail cars into the country, they could end up eliminating up to 65,000 U.S. jobs. Thanks to the subsidies provided to Chinese state enterprises.

The first ten will pass QC. The rest will be rejected. Chinese factories are infamous for “quality fade”.

Don’t see how it could take 65,000 people to build the railroad cars we use.
Even subway cars built in the US have quality issues. I’ve seen them pass QC in the “factory” and then fail to perform after delivery. US transit authorities are suckers for a low price. Later they can’t seem to be able to understand they screwed themselves. Between the S/W, door operating mechanisms and HVAC units the buyers are going to be extremely unhappy down the road.

The rail cars being imported are freight cars. They don't have any of the problematic items.
My experience has been just the opposite. Many items made in China have improved greatly in quality in the past few years.
I have had lots of Chinese mini refrigerators and Chinese tools over the past 10 years or so and they are almost as good as US made -- if I can even find US made items -- at very competitive prices.
I am a big do it yourself fan and have built several houses as an owner-builder. For my purposes, if I buy a Chinese made tool that costs the same as renting a higher quality tool two or three times I am far ahead. And through lots of experience I can tell you the Chinese stuff is almost as good.
I have a 3 car garage that looks like the tool section of a Home Depot or Lowes (the shelves literally came from an old Lowes store) with 80% Chinese stuff. The prices are hard to beat and the quality is not too bad.
And don't even think about criticizing me for not buying American. All the labor I hired along the way was 100% American.
I read where US rail carriers and rail car lease companies are reducing their inventory of rolling stock. Decreased freight traffic, rail line abandonment, and all of that. What gives?
But each freight car will be packed to the gills with Chinese raised chickens for the American grocery market.

Given the issues seen with Chinese steel, I wouldn’t touch one of their rail cars.
