The acting U.S. ambassador to China, David Rank, has reportedly resigned from his post over President Trumps decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement, according to a new report.
CNN reports that several sources familiar with the matter say Ranks decision was directly tied to Trumps decision to remove the U.S. from the accord, though his replacement in Beijing has already been approved by the Senate.
"Mr. Rank made a personal decision," a senior State Department official told CNN. "We appreciate his years of dedicated service to the State Department."
Rank has served as the deputy chief of mission at the embassy since January 2016 and had assumed the acting ambassador role until Trumps choice for ambassador, former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R), officially takes over. Rank has served in the foreign service since 1990, working in the Office of Afghanistan Affairs and the Office of Korean Affairs and serving in Taipei, Shanghai, Athens and Mauritius.
Rank becomes the second U.S. ambassador to publicly split with Trump in the past few days. Acting U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom Lewis Lukens publicly praised London Mayor Sadiq Khan for his response to this weekends terrorist attack on Sunday after Trump criticized him on Twitter.
I commend the strong leadership of the Mayor of London as he leads the city forward after this heinous attack, Lukens wrote.
Earlier Sunday, Trump criticized Khan for his comments following the weekend attack that killed at least seven people and wounded dozens more.
Trump appeared to be referencing Khans comments earlier in the day in which he said there was no reason to worry about the increased police presence in London.
More signs of a war with North Korea is emminent. This guy is getting out of Dodge and virtue signaling at the same time - crafty operator with a sense of self preservation. We need to keep an eye on this one.
Thanks, DV!
When will the turncoat Lukens give up his post as ambassador to the UK after his open criticism of the President?
That’s fine. Out with the old, in with the new.
An Ambassador serves the same function as an appendix.
Sits out there next to the anus.
They consume, but produceth not.
No one knows what they do.
Their removal causes O consequences.
Concluding query: Who gives a smelly Dorkbama if this clod resigns?
Good!
RIP Curly Bill
No no... below the hard deck doesn’t count Maverick! If your replacement is due is a few days, you don’t get credit for a protest resignation.
Sounds like Tillerson needs to clean house.
Thanks!
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Don’t let the door...
You’re welcome. It’s always a pleasure to post anything to do with Tombstone.

ANYONE who takes #CNNisISIS as a worthy news source needs to review what they are reading...Home of Kathy Griffen, Cuomo, Tapper, Cooper and other idiots...
The 500 most polluted cities on earth:
100 of the top 222 are in China... 187 of the Top 500 are in China.
The EU has 36 of the top 500, and they are all in Poland, Czech, Bosnia, and Macedonia.
Not one is in the US. NONE.
87% the rest are in the rest of Asia (India particularly).
(source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_polluted_cities_by_particulate_matter_concentration)
And now look at this:
2015 carbon dioxide emissions by country:
1. China 10.6 billion tons
2. USA 5.2
3. EU (all) 3.5
4. India 2.5
5. Russia 1.8
(Note: 10.6 > 5.2+3.5+1.8)
(source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions
Now check this out:
Under the Paris Agreement, China "promises" (and we can always trust Communist regimes with Social Issue promises 17 years out) to "peak" (meaning increase until it gets there) its emissions at a level "only" 34% higher than current emissions...
well 34% of 10.4 bn tons is 3.5 bn tons... which is equal to the entire output by the entire EU combined today. China already spews as much as the US-EU-and-Russia COMBINED, is the most polluted nation on earth... and gets to ADD another EU on top of that... while paying nothing... and the Western world has to cut back, and finance the developing countries.

THIS is why China isn't happy about Trump pulling out, and why the Ambassador has quit. The Paris Agreement was simply another handout to the Chinese Communist Party, and the Stop-Capitalism-Now crowd.
Congratulations on your trip to the land of irrelevance. Enjoy.

Oh, well, it’s early yet. He’ll probably be blabbing on Chuck Todd this weekend.
