DID MI5 DROP THE BALL?

The storied and highly respected intelligence agency of the United Kingdom seems to have overlooked a few obvious clues that could have prevented the recent carnage in Manchester.

When a popular entertainer’s concert ends, upwards of 20,000 people are going to leave the venue in a crush of humanity, albeit more or less orderly.

The predatory fiend, Salman Ramadan Abedi, laid in wait in the foyer of the stadium, knowing that this throng would necessarily have to pass in close proximity to him. These folks would slowly move to train stations, bus terminals, etc., where they would be an easy target, as well.

It must be assumed that there was adequate screening of the fans before they were allowed entrance into the auditorium, but shouldn’t it be obvious that the aforementioned areas, where people are necessarily going to congregate before and after the concert, be considered by security personnel?

Neighbors of the murderous Islamic monster, Mr. Abedi, commented on an unusual number of suspicious-looking characters circulating in and around his Manchester residence. One even mentioned that the odor of explosives was recognized.

Now, if a neighbor could notice the smell of explosives, does it not follow that a dog, or dogs, whose olfactory senses are inherently many times more acute than a human’s, and are trained for that purpose, should be employed in areas where large numbers of folks are going to be gathering before and after such an event?

In addition, the amount of shrapnel, nuts and bolts, etc., that could kill and maim over seventy innocent people, had to have a considerable amount of weight… enough so to light up your average metal detector like a Christmas tree!! Shouldn’t there have been metal detectors checking out people who were milling about before the crowds gathered?

There have been surveillance pictures of Mr. Abedi captured in the time running up to Monday night. In most of these shots, he seemed to be of middle-eastern background, he was clad in the standard Ninja-warrior black uniform, and he was sporting a freaking black backpack!!

Now, I’m not a highly-trained security expert, but that dude is sure-as-hell going to pique my interest!!

I don’t mean to beat up on British intelligence, I’m sure they feel bad enough already, but there will most likely be more of these fiendish attacks, and hopefully, much has been learned.

On a related subject, Theresa May, the new prime minister of England, scolded Donald Trump for the leaking of British Intelligence information relative to the Manchester bombing. She was eminently justified in doing so! But was The Donald solely to blame for this diplomatic faux pas?

Of course, this transgression occurred on his watch, but it is well known that there are evil-doers in our intelligence community who are privy to this nature of information and who consider it their mission in life to do what they can to take our president down. These are the real bad guys!

Moreover, if the information is leaked to the news media, should they consider it their sworn duty to publish this material, knowing full well that, potentially, this could do irreparable harm to their country?

The New York Times has received little or no rebuke for their role in this un-American act.

There have been times in our history when this kind of nefarious skullduggery was considered an act of treason and the perpetrators might be rewarded with a noose or a firing squad!

Nowadays, our politically correct leaders may just take the perps aside and tell them, “Well, now, you really shouldn’t oughta done that. Now go and sin no more.”

Those in law enforcement have learned that, if there is no penalty for wrongdoing, most miscreants will double- or triple-down on their criminal behavior.

It’s an impossible job. There’s no possibility that 23+k jihadi’s can be tracked. They all need to be kicked out.

Wherever you set the boundaries for security screening at large public events, the same risks will exist. There will be lines or crowds of people waiting to be screened, and the suicide bomber will have easy targets. They must be stopped before they ever strap on the bomb.

Trump was more on point with the governments of highly Islamic countries. If you don’t want your peoples to get a reputation for this kind of thing in the world... well by heaven and earth, put a STOP to it.

True enough. It just seems that modern security focuses are sometimes too tunnel visioned.

These people were attacked in public, not in the auditorium. Christina Grimmie was shot in a parking lot after her Christian witness. So far nobody has seriously attacked an airport rather than a flight, but that might be a matter of time... people standing waiting in nonsecure areas would be a temptation.

MI5 can only collect data/info and report it to the authorities from the PM down to the Mayor and Police Chief of Manchester.

If those in power ignore it, they are the ones responsible for the terrorism by ignoring it.

My non violent wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, RN in a busy FP practice until she was in her 70's came close to losing it. When she heard the Police Chief of Manchester warning people not to bother the muslims in Manchester after the slaughter of young people.

It is probably a safe bet that those in Grandchester in charge of protecting the innocent, ignored any intel that their home grown Jihadist was a dangerous zealot. Apparently he was on some nice welfare from the Brits.

In America, Obama's former great and wonderful FBI Chief, Comey, apparently did the opposite. He ignored intel re the Ft Hood Killer, the Boston Marathon killers, the San Bernardino Killers and the Orlando Killers and ??????

Terrorism such as what happened in Manchester is coming to a “event” near you right here in America. All the security in the world cannot and will not stop the idiots who are hell bent on causing the deaths of American innocent, they hate the U.S., it's people and all we stands for. The liberals and disbelievers can deny all they want but it IS coming. When or where, who knows but it is coming. When it happens and directly effects the “nay sayer's”, perhaps then they will realize what Trump has been trying to avoid, albeit too late. I pray that I am WRONG!

But, before you can kick them out, you have to identify them. This schmuck traveled to Syria and Libya recently, both hotbeds of Islamic terrorism. When someone gets on a plane to one of these countries, red flags should be going up all over the place!! And when he tries to come back, he should be subjected to extreme scrutiny and watched like a hawk for the next five years.

We have had a lot of jihadist terrorist acts in America: The bombing of the FBI building in OKC, 9/11, FT Hood, Roseburg, Oregon, Boston Marathon, San Bernardino, Cal and Orlando, Floriduh!

The anti Americans in charge of our media down play these horrible events, and the left wing leaders where Americans were slaughtered down play what happened.

The FBI instead of protecting us with Comey in charge has failed to protect innocent Americans for many of the slaughters, I posted above.

There’s various reports that supposedly members of his family, friends, officials from a mosque he used to attend, and a social worker all warned authorities at different times about this guy.

That’s like a catcher telling a hitter what is coming and the guy still strikes out 4 times.

It’s true that throwing all Muslims into the “terrorist” bag is not correct or fair. But moderate Muslims are partly to blame for not vocally

There appear to be more-than-adequate signals that no one seemed to notice!
In 2011, The Obama Administration officially placed “off-limits” any investigation of the beliefs, motives and goals of jihad terrorists.
It appears that similar madness has infiltrated the Brits, as well. I thought they were smarter than that.
