LARGO Fast-growing IT company Vology is adding another 200 jobs, Gov. Rick Scott announced during a visit to the Largo company this afternoon. Vology, which focuses on managed IT services and hardware, will add the positions by 2021.
The new jobs will largely be focused on network operations.
Inc. magazine ranked Vology as one of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies for the past 11 years, coming in at 3198th for 2016. The city of Largo is hoping that this latest expansion will lure other companies there.
"We hope that their expansion will be a catalyst for other tech companies to expand into Largo's market," Largo's Mayor Woody Brown said in a release.
Vology has 420 employees, including 310 in Pinellas County.
Scott previously touted local job growth in his tour around the state to defend Enterprise Florida, an agency that doles out tax incentives to companies. The state House voted to kill the agency in March by a margin of 87-28 but the Senate did not follow suit.
Vology was approved for $255,000 in incentives through Enterprise Florida. According to the Department of Economic Opportunity, the company must meet periodic hiring benchmarks to receive the funding.
"This highly accountable process works to protect Florida taxpayers' hard-earned money," Morgan McCord, press secretary for DEO, said in an email.
Later today, Scott will host a community outreach event Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce in St. Pete Beach at 4 p.m.
Hopefully many of the laid off Disney employees will get those jobs.
