McFarland is a lifetime member of the CFR. Gorka, not so much (wild understatement). They are not remotely in the same category. McFarland is seen as too close to Mike Flynn, and McMaster, also a lifetime CFR member, is partial to Dina Powell (of Goldman-Sachs) as his deputy.
