Woods are different.

Balsa is ok for use in model, and some real, aircraft. But I would not want a baseball bat made of Balsa.

Neither would I want the aft main shaft strut bearings in a nuclear submarine, battleship, or destroyer made of Balsa. For that I would use the wood from Lignum Vitae.
