There is mounting evidence that artificial sweeteners alter gut bacteria and promote glucose intolerance. Stevia is the only one that I know of that does not. For your reference:

I make unsweetened kefir, fermented turmeric and ginger, kombucha and use them all, along with green tea and whey protein in a daily morning drink, with a bit of stevia and lemon for flavor. So I get the probiotic thing.
