My husband has a colleague who took an expat deal in South Africa. He took the family from Sweden. It was open ended, as long as he wanted to stay but he committed to two years. He's a CFO-so nice salary, car, house, servants, pool, fabulous weather, home visits--the full dream ex-pat package.
He lasted two years. He said you can't go any where or do anything. You need security 100% of the time and can't leave the compound without it.
