As someone who lived in South Africa for years, I can fully understand why this is. I haven’t been back to the country in more than 6 years now, but my friends there keep me up to date and I also follow SA news somewhat closely.

In 1994, when the ‘full democratic’ election took place, Nelson Mandela wanted an approach of reconciliation with the whites, but he only served five years and now the country seems to be edging more and more towards taking what the whites still largely control, namely the economic and agricultural sector. There are now loud voices (Malema and his ilk) calling for land redistribution without compensation - a practice that largely ruined their neighbor to the north, Zimbabwe.

The president of South Africa is a boneheaded fool named Jacob Zuma. He’s sexually immoral and has numerous wives, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. He is so brazenly corrupt that he even rivals the political leaders of Chicago. And he’s incredibly incompetent and recently fired someone who was widely regarded as a solid Finance Minister and replaced him with someone who is unsuitable for the job that heavily influences the nation’s stagnant economy. Massive demonstrations nationwide asking that Zuma step down have come from all races - not just whites. But Zuma dismisses the protests as ‘racist’. As one SA friend of mine put it, South Africa is soon going to have to be called ‘Zumbabwe’ if things continue as they are.

The list goes on and on, and I don’t mind that oppressed or even rich white South Africans come to the United States. In my estimation, they’ll be very likely to be Republican and conservative.
