To many women’s stores....where I live the Goodwill is doing a booming business ..also the Salvation Army
I live on the rural side of a prosperous suburb, and if you’re ever in a line outside of a grocery store, it’s at Walmart, Tractor Supply, the Goodwill Store or Dollar General. People have clamped down on non-essential spending, especially on clothing, and I just don’t see that changing any time soon, even with people who have plenty to spend.
Yep, I get most of my clothes at Goodwill. I absolutely hate the stuff coming out of China, Vietnam and Shri Lanka. I hate the fabric and the styles. Goodwill is the only place I can find decent looking clothes. But even they are starting to run out of things that go back to the 80s & early 90s. What is an old woman supposed to do? Actually I think some of those retail stores will learn how to use the internet effectively and survive competition with Amazon.

Not only too many women’s stores, but the prices are ridiculous. Today, I stopped off at Goodwill - bought two pairs of pants for $4.99 each. I looked at similar pants at Walmart (cheapest store in the area) & they were in the $10 - $20 each range. The Goodwill pants were exactly what I wanted - size/fabric .... Walmart ones weren’t close enough for me to spend the money. I won’t set foot in a JC Penny’s or Target.
Most of my shopping lately, other than Goodwill, has been on eBay & Amazon.
I agree, between that and garage sales, I don’t need stores except for socks and underwear. I also sew and can alter the clothes.
It’s way too much fun to find name brands for a dollar. I got an Ivanka Trump bag for $7.50. Still in wrappers. Yea me!
