We have more than a few FReepers who are black, and very conservative.
I guess that this means that Obama would be turned away, right? The so-called first 'black' president? What about Susan Rice for that matter (since she apparently has been in the news lately).... her skin isn't actually 'black' per se, is it? There are lots of people who classify themselves as 'white' who are darker than she is. What exactly is a 'black'? Not that I care a ratz's patooty about this organization but perhaps since BLM created policy about this issue, wouldn't it make sense for them to actually offer up a concise definition? Maybe there is a scientific definition to it that involves DNA analysis…. Or perhaps it’s as simple as doing some kind of melanin count. Does a black person have to have some ancestral roots in Africa? There are countries in the world were the people may be ‘black’ but they have been there so long that they can’t trace any roots back to Africa. Some of the blackest people I’ve ever met are from India…. don’t believe their ancestry every had a connection to Africa. Well then, what about ‘white people’ who have been in Africa for so long that they can’t trace their roots back to any country before that…. are they now considered black because of their connection to Africa? And what about an albino child born to ‘black parents’. What is he/she classified as? Too many questions to waste on such a stupid subject…. and such a brain dead organization.

And what if I got turned away because my skin didn’t appear to be quite black enough.... so I spent a few hours in a tanning machine for a few weeks to ‘darken me up’. Would that gain entrance? And then what would happen as the tan faded....
There are a lot of love songs about this. If black lives only matter to blacks, are they ok with that? If they don’t wish black lives to matter to other races, what does that mean? It’s time to sing “I can’t make you love me, if you don’t... I can’t make the heart feel something it won’t....”
I grew up with Black is Beautiful. I thought we were all going to be sharing our world together. Now blacks don’t want whites around for anything it seems. Maybe we need our own rows on the bus.
It is getting to be a problem. Everyone who is well known, who has any black ancestor, seems to be only proud of their black heritage. Most of my relatives are much darker than Mariah Carey, who had a black grandmother and considers herself black. President Eisenhower had a black grandmother and no one considered him black.
DNA tests do give you a % of how much subsaharan African you are. I guess someone needs to come up with a number. 50%? 25%? 10%? Where do you want to draw the line?
(Personally, I want to be done completely with all racial categories. My daughter has most of them. What is the point?)

Exactly... and that was the point of my post. Most of it is totally arbitrary and in the eye of the beholder. I tell you one place where there is virtually zero reference to skin colour (even though different geographical areas are mentioned such as Ethiopia where people were known to have a different skin colour)..... the Bible. And why is not mentioned? Because it's meaningless.....there is no skin colour or race mentioned in this verse as to who it applies to... that word 'whoever' covers everyone. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
In the really mixed countries / locations like Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Brazil it can’t be a very important piece of info. I bet it wasn’t in Biblical times either. They had no access to genetic tests.
