Powerplant startup engineer...I’d hit about 10 countries by the time I was 26, including 7 months in China. Favorites...Philippines, Chile, Sardinia (Italy), and Argentina. But, by the time I got to Argentina, I’d gotten Hep A in Mexico and couldn’t even eat a steak! Now that was a bummer. I arrived at a nickel mine in the Philippines the day after the plant manager was sacked. My hosts put me up in his private villa instead of in the normal “guest house” for foreign workers. I still remember those daily seafood feasts for lunch. I lived like a king for a few weeks.
My daughter has done me one better. She went into the tourism industry and is getting all the travel she ever dreamed of.
You GOT the job *I* wanted! I ended up working in small plants for 20+ years, and while it has its charms, I am saddened by some of my choices.
GOOD for you! I admire your tenacity and drive.
