It might seem strange, but a .22 Pistol and rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.

I’m not going running to a bug-out shelter anymore and I’m getting old. .22’s just weigh less to lug around and the ammunition just weighs less for greater quantity.

“but a .22 Pistol and rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.”

Not a bad choice, at all.

I have a Browning .22 pistol with a suppressor with which I have killed more squirrels than anything I own.

Solid reasoning. Long term survival begs a 22lr (my choice would be the M&P 15-22) rifle, a Heritage Arms 8 round 22lr / 22 magnum single action revolver, and a Bulgy AK74 or AR 15 in 10.5 inch barrel. If truly long term survival is the issue, a good 20 gauge shotgun and reloading stand would be useful over the AK74.
