HOW THE HELL CAN IT BE THIS HARD TO REPEAL A BILL THAT: 1) NO ONE WANTED 2) WHICH COSTS FAR MORE THAN EXPECTED 3) WHICH WAS BUILT ON LIES ABOUT REDUCING COSTS AND 4) KEEPING YOUR PLANS AND DOCTORS AND 5) IS DOOMED TO FAILURE????
Trump's First Mistake - He let Paul Ryno "take the lead" on drafting the bill. Ryno, never one to be trusted and certainly no friend to Trump, responded with "passive resistance" - appear like you're working toward a goal, when in reality you're trying to torpedo it.
The truly puzzling part is why they want to replace it with a scheme that will do all those same things all over again?
Do the Republicans really think they can fix it?
Here is a crap machine - let's repair it a little and let it keep spewing out crap.
I agree...we did without government insurance for over 200 years, so WTF is so urgent about “replacing” something we didn’t want to begin with?
Kill Obamacare dead, and be done with it!
What's on the table is a repeal and replace.
For some, it's the repeal they oppose; for others it's the replace they oppose. Trying to get both sides to agree on a compromise is the tricky part.
Actually, Trump is behind setting Ryan up to be replaced, genius.
They didn’t have anything to replace it when they sent 6 repeal bills to Obama.
They were bluffing, and now they are exposed.
Trump wasn’t supposed to win, and the GOP was not supposed to be in a position where they could actually do anything.
Oopsy.
I agree with the poster on ALL CAPS! This healthcare scam is worthy of SHOUTING about.
If you’d join the discussion on the content instead of playing editor, you might have something of value to contribute.
THANK YOU!
I quite agree. Kill it dead.
Offer up text to do that you can get past the Parliamentarian or get 60 votes.
Where’s your text that achieves that? Where is it? You haven’t provided anything that will get 60.
You haven’t provided any that will pass the Parliamentarian.
There is no 2 speech magical work around because of amendments and points of order, each of which can get 2 speeches.
Get 60 or you have NOTHING.
They never wanted to.
Uniparty rino leadership does not have a problem with it.
It just gave them something to keep republicans being elected and keeping them in their upper party positions.
bttt
Oh and btw, wackos.
Ryan has been Speaker less than 2 years. HE DIDN’T WANT THE JOB. The GOP offered up several names, some even your style wackos, and none could get a majority.
That’s right. NO ONE ELSE COULD GET A MAJORITY.
You should thank the Almighty for Paul Ryan because without him there would be no GOP leadership at all. AT ALL.
You don’t like the leadership? Offer up someone else who can get a majority. You already tried. You had nothing.
With who?
Because the Republicans know from this point forward after they repeal it that anything that is wrong in the healthcare sector will be totally on them. The media will run 24/7 stories totally eviscerating the Republicans over and over and over again
Once the gub’mint has its fangs in you, it’s a one way trip.
That's a bit oversimplified.
If 0bamacare is repealed, we're returned to the situation before it existed.
And that situation was by no means one which "let market forces do their thing".
That's why any repeal must include provisions which mitigate the situation as it existed before 0bamacare was passed.
Make no mistake: when 0bama initially got this piece of sh!t passed with a Democrat Congress, you can bet your last dollar that they did it in such a way as to absolutely prevent a repeal in the future. They put in every conceivable obstacle, bureaucratic or otherwise. Repeal & replace is a gargantuan task, if anyone expects the situation to improve—not merely improve over 0bamacare, but improve over the situation that existed before 0bamacare.
So any process of repealing 0bamacare must include addressing the conditions that prevailed which led to something like 0bamacare being proposed in the first place.
Governing is hard sometimes, and we should expect it to be especially so in cases such as this.
So everybody take a deep breath. This, too, shall pass...
The fact is that Ryan doesn't want it repealed, he wants to tweak it.
That would be the simple way to do it, it will die without funding.
And we are now suppose to believe the polls?
I suppose you think the alternatives would all be just as bad, but realistically, if Trump can shed Ryan, he'll at least get someone who wasn't openly anti-Trump during the campaign and most likely, someone who will be as anxious to work with him as with the then pissed off crowd who backed Ryan.
Or, it could be one of the dark horses Trump prefers.
