Reminds me of a young lady trying to learn her mother’s fantastic roast beef recipe. Mom started by showing the daughter to cut off the end of the roast, then sprinkle with seasonings. “Why do we cut off the end of the roast?” The daughter wanted to know.
“I don’t know; I’ve just always done it that way. My mom did it that way. Let’s call Grandma and ask.”
They called the elderly Grandma. “Granny, why do we cut off the end of the roast before cooking?”
Grandmother starts laughing. “My pan was always too small!”
