While my old Dakota was in a Waffle House parking lot a couple of months ago overnight because the brake caliper was locked up and waiting for a tow truck, a patron of the WH parked beside it, removed his Glock .45 to place it in his glove box. It fired. The bullet went through the side of his new car and into my driver’s door. The effort of transiting the side of his car left just enough energy for the round to go through the outer skin of my door. It is now in the bottom of the door where it rattles when I hit a bump. I painted the edges of the hole and left it. I know how it happened because the fellow called the police and left a note with all his info on it. I called him and he said he would pay for the damage. I told him thanks for the conversation piece. In that old beater it just added some interest. He was greatly relieved and said he had a $2000 deductible he was straining to pay on all the damage to his own car. I offered to help him out with it but he declined.
