Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather called President Trump a threat to our democracy after his actions Friday banning some media from a press gaggle. He authored a scathing note on his Facebook account and sent it out via Twitter Friday evening.

The time for normalizing, dissembling, and explaining away Donald Trump has long since passed, the post began.
The barring of respected journalistic outlets from the White House briefing is so far beyond the norms and traditions that have governed this republic for generations, that they must be seen as a real and present threat to our democracy. These are the dangers presidents are supposed to protect against, not create.
For all who excused Mr. Trumps rhetoric in the campaign as just talk, the reckoning has come. I hope it isnt true, but I fear Mr. Trump is nearing or perhaps already beyond any hope of redemption. And now the question is will enough pressure be turned to all those who enable his antics with their tacit encouragement.
Rather goes on to castigate Republicans and even Democrats who have given Trump an wall of unbending support, saying that talk is cheap in reference to those who criticize Trumps action but do nothing about them.
What are you going to do about it? He demands....

So the CBS liar is complaining (with a lie) about a ‘media ban’?
He did not ban ‘the media’ there was plenty of media there ...he just didn’t invite CNN, because they lie about him anyway.
Lighten up and die, will ya Danny. Americans have had all the nonsense they need from you.
Obama had selective press gaggles, so it must be all right.
Dan apparently came out of hiding once Trump won. He is delusional tho think that the majority of Americans care about his opinion.
Right. It is called a "press pool" for a reason. Not all press are represented. However, all of the press has the access of what went on in the briefing.
When that happens we’ll be having snowflakes from the Colmes thread bleating about how wonderful he was....
Dan, Dan, Dan. Your critique applies perfectly if we were a socialist democracy. President Trump is the enemy of all forms of democratic socialism. It is worth noting that all socialist states are democratic. That is, they are ruled by a majority with no effective protection for minorities. They usually come into being by cobbling together a disparate aggregation of disenfranchised minorities into a majority that protects its power by pitting these groups against each other. Russia, Argentina, Cuba, and north Korea come to mind.
The USA is unique from these forms of government. It is a republic, not ruled as you suggested, but governed by the will of the people in each of its membered states. It seeks to protect the rights of minorities and attract majorities under a banner of equality of opportunity and equal application of the law. These are not principles that guide democracies.
By your own words you do not belong in this country, Dan. We are the wrong kind of government for you and your progressive friends. Your guys had a good run at trying to govern our nation. Now it is time for you to admit the absolute dereliction of your governing philosophy and back off. Sit down and shut up, Dan.
We have a President who is putting the people of this country to work building the nation our founders envisioned, not the one your weird friends tried to foist on us. Oh, and on your way out the door, take some of your more obstreperous friends with you. You know, like Soros, Clinton, Obama and other assorted wannabe tyrants.
And Free Republic is a threat to forged documents!
Dan Rather, you are a coward. You say things you should not be saying, and I’m sure you have security with you. I only wish that we could meet face-to-face and see how brave you were to say the things that you’re saying. Failure to face a man with whom you disagree face-to-face without someone to back you up and means you have no courage.
Dan Rather . . . . yawn.
But a biased, corrupt, and dishonest media is a blessing for our democracy.
If Rather and his clique weren't sold out mouthpieces for the democrat machine they wouldn't have anything to whine about now.
Screw Dan Rather, the horse he rode in on, his saddle maker, his boot maker, the livery that cares for his horse, and the cheap perverts he pays for comfort at his local saloon.

Another professional propagandist projecting his own failings onto the president. Blatantly lying to millions of people every day and attempting to manipulate them with partisan distortions, while pretending to report unbiased “news,” in an attempt to overthrow our election is the true “threat to our democracy.”
I can honestly say I doubt there is a bigger threat to the survival of our nation than our disgustingly corrupt, standard-less, and almost unimaginably deceptive media (esp. if you include all media, like the entertainment industry too)—not the Democratic Party, not ISIS, not apathy, nothing else matches its threat. They control and distort the thinking of millions and millions of victims. Only the Cultural Marxist take-over of our education system and the turning of our schools and universities into indoctrination camps perhaps equals it.
President George Bush 41 wouldn’t allow Dan Rather to ever interview him because if his flagrant bias. Why should President Trump reward the nasty children of the NY Slimes and CNN by giving them access?
I wonder if any one in media realizes how media outlets becoming the mouth piece for a particular party has endangered our democracy.
Dan you have long been recognized as a hostile threat to our democracy. Fake but accurate my rump, you sought to take down your political opposition by out and out fraud.
