Not being diabetic but suffering from hypoglycemia, I was a bear when I used to work without breakfast until I got diagnosed for it then was able to control myself by having a mere bowl of cereal around 9:00 a.m. at work........
I suspect that is her problem and if so, she should be given consideration since a drop in sugar levels can cause a drastic change in one's mood.
I had a situation once after I had been transferred from our manufacturing plant in Detroit to our HR corporate office in Troy.
I was now working for a complete asshole and we had a departmental meeting scheduled for 9:20 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., just as I was eating my regular bowl of cereal, he came into my office and said lets go to the meeting room. I explained to him that the meeting wasn't for another 20 minutes and that I needed to finish my cereal due to my hypoglycemia.
He then said "yea, yea, you need your potassium.....put the cereal down, lets go. If you have a problem, bring in a doctor's note....."
He then turned and walked out of the office and I quickly drank down the cereal and followed him out.........He never knew how close he came to having his ass beaten, which is exactly what would have happened had I not been able to level off my sugar level.
Did you ever bring in the doctor’s note? I would imagine that would’ve protected you in case of a hypoglycemic incident. In the case of a boss beat down, ha ha.
