I'm the author, and it's not that I "didn't think it would ever happen" to me, but I had hoped that it wouldn't happen without any hint of a reason.

I have to go through this same pat down whenever I fly out of LAX. I try not to fly out of that airport.
I had a cesarean section over thirty years ago and it seems their machine always alerts on the scar tissue.
It truly is a violation of our rights.
