A cortisone shot injected directly to the site of the arthritis may or may not help your pain. I've had injections to my shoulder three times and each time the pain abated for 2-3 months. But the doc said protocol limited me to getting the shot every six months. It doesn't do anything for the arthritis but mask the pain.

Injecting cortisone directly to the site of the arthritis, does not have the same publicized side-effects of oral steroids taken to build muscles. I get mine done at the VA and they send me to x-ray to get the injection. That way they can get the needle to go to the right spot. It's very safe.

I guess it depends on how old you are but...

Lift weights every other day. Afterward, work out really hard. I mean like MMA hard. Feel like you are going to puke hard.

Make sure you blood is not excessively alkaline. It is an expensive test so if you want to just experiment lowering it look on youtube for ideas you can discuss with your doctor. If your doctor is a pill pusher - find another one.

In most cases your aches will disappear. Except the good pain from the weight lifting :-)
