Mr. Tevi Troy, meet Mr. Trump. Learn the words "Bold and Aggressive".

Threaten to cut the whole department first.

When huge outcries rise up, then boot these careerists out the door, only retain those that 'get with the program' (so to speak).

Repeal the Civil Service Act. Restore the spoils system. As bad as it was, at least the spoiuls sytem flushed the bastages out periodically.

We need to retrench the Capital when we have Republican Presidents!

May be costly to build a new Capital in a conservative stronghold somewhere over flyover country.

I don’t like that our President is in a city that voted primarily regressive progressive democrat!

A town that allows our first family to be threaten with violence, abused by the opposition party media, promotes violent riots, who’s hired Secret Service are allowed to not do their jobs!

We should have a glorious new capital where our elected leaders and their families would be safe during Republican Presidencies! Where our constituencies can work and serve them!

So, cut the departments by say, 90%, and then add back a new 20% if absolutely needed. Many departments should be abolished making it that much harder to come back in the future.

recalling challenges George W. Bush faced in confronting the bureaucracy, firing is usually not an option: “Another thing we learned about early on was the lifetime tenure rules–technically known as ‘civil-service protections.’ These rules made it exceedingly difficult to fire even obstinate and uncooperative career officials.”

So much gold here, I don't even know where to start.

recalling challenges George W. Bush faced in confronting the bureaucracy......These rules made it exceedingly difficult to fire even obstinate and uncooperative career officials

The usual Cuckservative, especially Bush, excuse.

"I was President of the United States, but was powerless to do anything!" *sniffle*

firing is usually not an option:.........lifetime tenure rules–technically known as ‘civil-service protections.’

Even I, a basement dwelling internet troll, can see a solution to this problem.

But I'll give Glorious Leader Trump the future credit:

Trump: "Screw that. We're getting rid of that rule. Next item on the agenda?"

These damn pathetic Republicans are so incompent and weak, it makes my blood boil. You are elected to be in charge!

I find it amazing that the President of the USA can be stymied by a random government employee because there are "rules" that prevent them from being fired.

And Bush just went along with it.

Amazing Amazing Amazing.

Cut the entire department, offer an Early Out and make it clear if they don’t take it they’ll wish they did, like they could be sent up to one hundred miles away, then create a new department with a new name and additional responsibilities so it’s not the same thing, and start hiring again and know who you’re hiring.

I worked for the federal bureaucracy. No need to fire them. Have the head person create alternative positions in the basement of the building with a desk and no phone and keep paying them. If you can’t fire them, you can put them on ice.

It is not a “coup” that is in progress. It is like a mud flow, apparently slow and inexorable, but really pretty rapid and still inexorable. Cleaning out and circumscribing the Agencies and Departments is, in the long run, futile. Their emaciated husks will return full of vigor and oppression so long as the framework still exists. They have to be abolished and all their employees returned to civilian life with no severance pay, no further bonuses at all. They, down to the lowliest sinecure clerk, should not be rewarded by retirement or any other valuable gifts from the taxpayers for their service to Leviathan. Exempted should be the original four Departments and none other.
