Actually, it is like the Pacer in some ways. The car was actually a huge initial success even though they had to abandon the primary reason the car could be designed the way it was: GM refused to build the wankel engine it was supposed to use. They had to shoehorn a straight six into it. It worked, but not ideally.

But the styling was very, VERY futuristic. The car was VERY successful, until it wasn’t and then it died quickly.

I compare the Tesla because it caused an amazing stir, but has its obvious issues. Yet is is still something that turns heads somewhat, anyway. But once the shine wears off, not to mention government subsidies (something the pacer does NOT share with it), the company will probably fold, unless there is a major technology breakthrough to put these cars in the hands of millions of average Americans. Otherwise they just become another DeLorean.
